SmartValve Detail Design

Omnia Projects have been contracted by Omexom as their design partner for the two Power Flow Control SSSC installations at National Grid’s South Shields 275kV Substation.

Front End Engineering and Detail Design is being produced incorporating the following responsibilities:

  • Primary Design
  • OHL works; tower surveys, gantry design
  • Substation layout & Earthing design
  • Interface with SmartValves technology
  • Creation of new Single Line Diagrams
  • Site Development Design
  • External (electrified) and internal fence line design
  • Site compound lighting
  • Civil design including drainage, foundations, roads and footpath
  • SCS modifications
  • Project management
  • Programme development
  • Design Review Meetings
  • Creation and review of technical specifications

Steelwork Design Calculations

  • SmartValves support structure
  • Primary switchgear & Ancillary structures

Surveys

  • Selection / direction of survey’s both desktop and at site
  • LVAC / DC surveys including reports

Secondary Design

  • Development of Key Line Diagrams
  • Primary plant protection
  • DAR and Auto Switching interface
  • SmartValve overall protection

3D Design

Utilising their diverse in-house design capabilities, Omnia Projects transforms 2D CAD designs into vibrant 3D models. These models not only serve as powerful visual aids for productive discussions but also boast precision, facilitating the measurement of complex elevations and electrical clearances within the 3D environment. By utilising virtual reality headsets, the project team can explore the substation layout before any on-site construction begins.

Omnia Projects excel in efficiently developing 3D models, seamlessly progressing from Front End Engineering Design (FEED) to detailed design. Each model is customised to meet the specific requirements of the client, accommodating anything from individual assets to entire substations.
