Mill Hill BESS Connection

Omnia Projects have been engaged by National Grid to complete engineering deliverables for the National Grid stage gate activities from TP500 referenced as 4.4 phase for the following interacting projects.

The project is made up of two schemes for concurrent detailed design and delivery at Mill Hill:

Mill Hill 275kV SGT2B (Supergrid transformer) has reached the end of its asset life and requires replacement. The SGT replacement is proposed to be in-situ with maximum reuse of existing bay assets. The replacement SGT will be a Hyundai 275/132/13kV 240MVA unit from the Client’s Bulk Purchase 7 Framework.

The Client also has a signed connection offer in place to connect a Customer BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) to the tertiary connection of the replacement SGT2B. The tertiary connection scheme consists of connection and infrastructure assets to enable export and import of power to the BESS site, and vice versa.

The Omnia scope is a holistic, detailed design of SGT2B Replacement and the Mill Hill Tertiary Connection Scheme (Infrastructure Asset Works).
