Role Description

As a Risk Engineer / Risk Manager, you will support our Project Managers and Clients in identifying, analysing and managing project risks and opportunities across electrical engineering and infrastructure schemes.

You will play a key role in ensuring that risk management processes are embedded across project lifecycles, from early development and consenting through detailed design, construction and commissioning. The role requires both qualitative and quantitative risk management capability within regulated utility and energy environments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain structured project risk management frameworks
  • Facilitate risk identification workshops with Clients, designers and contractors
  • Maintain and manage project risk registers in accordance with Client governance requirements
  • Undertake qualitative risk assessments including probability-impact scoring and prioritisation
  • Perform Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis (QSRA) using appropriate software tools
  • Interpret QSRA outputs and integrate findings into project forecasts
  • Develop cost risk models where required
  • Support NEC4 Early Warning processes and Compensation Event risk assessments
  • Provide risk inputs into business case development and investment approval processes
  • Monitor emerging risks and provide trend analysis
  • Support mitigation planning and tracking of risk reduction actions
  • Provide independent assurance reviews of contractor risk processes
  • Contribute to programme reviews and interface risk assessments
  • Support claims defence through structured risk and delay analysis
  • Prepare risk reports for governance boards and senior stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental procedures

Experience

  • Experience in risk management within electrical utilities, infrastructure or energy sectors
  • Strong understanding of NEC4 contract mechanisms
  • Experience facilitating structured risk workshops
  • Experience undertaking QSRA (e.g. Primavera Risk Analysis or equivalent)
  • Understanding of cost risk modelling principles
  • Familiarity with large-scale infrastructure delivery environments
  • Analytical and data-driven mindset
  • Ability to communicate complex risk outputs clearly to senior stakeholders
  • Experience working within multi-disciplinary project teams

Qualifications

  • Degree in engineering, construction management, risk management or related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Professional membership (APM Risk SIG, IRM, RICS, CICES or equivalent) desirable
  • Right to Work in the UK
