Project Description
Supplementing the Clients capability, the successful individual will support and work with the inhouse project delivery to provide works across several asset classes to include substations, underground cables, overhead lines and civils. This will cover at all system voltages from low voltage (LV) up to and including 132kV.
The Opportunity
As a Junior Project Engineer / Manager (2+ years’ experience), you will assist with design, planning and the delivery of project works from feasibility through to completion, ensuring compliance with standards, systems and licence obligations.
Key responsibilities:
- Use and comply with procedures, business systems and data/asset systems.
- Join and assist with site investigations and compliant engineering solutions and designs.
- Assist with producing firm cost proposals, quotations, and validated estimates for connection offers.
- Assist with specifying, ordering and management of equipment, plant and supplier/contractor interfaces.
- Develop into reviewing designs, ICP submissions and supplier tenders; attend FAT and witness testing.
- Assist with project managing works (whole or part lifecycle) to time, cost and quality targets.
- Assist with administering contracts, tenders, mobilisation and ongoing contract management.
- Develop and manage programmes, providing regular progress and cost forecasts to the client.
- Take the lead on specific workstreams as instructed by the senior project leaders with regards to project teams and meetings; manage stakeholders and customer engagement.
- Ensure delivery meets quality, safety (including CDM duties), and environmental standards.
- Assist with undertaking audits, site inspections and contribute to audit programmes.
- Assist with identifying and managing project risks and resource requirements.
- Develop towards obtaining operational authorisations for substation access and supervision.
- Assist with asset records and support portfolio resource planning.
Knowledge & Qualifications
- Ability and aspiration to progress towards Project Engineer role.
- Minimal or no experience of the distribution system asset classes.
- Typically less than 2 years’ experience undertaking the role or equivalent, supporting Project Engineers.
Additional Information
You will be located at one of the main offices; Castleford, Hull, Hellaby, York, Stockton, Penshaw and Shiremoor with occasional visits to sites across the North West England region.
All roles are long term in nature and we would consider hiring individuals on PAYE, Limited Company (Inside IR35) or contingent worker arrangement.
